MarineBio Recent Updates
We've been crazy busy as usual and wanted to let everyone know about a few recent updates that you might enjoy:
MarineBio's Ocean Channel (youtube) continues to grow and we have a new volunteer keeping an eye out and suggesting new videos to make the channel one of the best online for those interested in marine life:
http://www.youtube.com/user/marinebiodc (we've also added a bunch of other great recommended channels for even more fun in the right column... it's amazing what's on youtube these days!)
MarineBio @Pinterest - Pinterest just began allowing group/company accounts and the ability to "pin" videos from youtube and vimeo so we decided to give it a try. Wow, what a great experience... be warned though, it can be addicting

MarineBio's Ocean Watch (our video library at marinebio.org) continues to grow
http://marinebio.org/gallery/video/ and youdive.tv has just agreed to allow us to post some of their amazing videos... the page on basking sharks is our latest addition: http://marinebio.org/gallery/video/Basking-Sharks.asp
MarineBio Projects - we now have 10 projects in progress and our new Volunteer Coordinator (Ginelle) is doing an amazing job helping us manage them: http://marinebio.org/research/projects/
Lastly, we now have a group of us posting on our main Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/marinebio.org and over 3,000 members active in our Facebook Group page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/marinebio/. With almost a billion people on Facebook these days, it's wonderful to see how many are getting involved and learning about marine life and the various conservation issues... it gives us hope!
Feel free to post any questions or comments about the above here if you like, I'd be happy to discuss them.

~~~ Join the MarineBio Conservation Society and help us continue to share the wonders of
the ocean inspiring conservation, education, research, and a sea ethic. ~~~
Extending a sea ethic would mean recognizing the ocean’s importance to the continued existence of life on our planet and to human futures. From this recognition would flow an appropriate sense of moral imperative, commitment, and urgency—urgency toward ending overfishing and wasteful bycatch and aggressively rebuilding depleted ocean wildlife populations, stabilizing human effects on world climate, slowing habitat destruction, stemming global transport and accidental introduction of "alien" species, curbing the flow of contaminants and trash, developing sustainable seafood farming, cultivating an informed approach to the seafood marketplace, and implementing networks of protected areas in the sea. - Dr. Carl Safina
