Why whales beach themselves

Postby Izzy » 2/26/06

But Sharkbait had a really good point... we're removing mass that originated on earth... so it'll mess up our orbit, and we'll all die...

hehe... but if we seal from Mars, we'll take away it's mass... which will throw off its orbit and have a potential crash with us... that's not good either...

Well, if we calculate it right, we can take the final ammount of mass that will cause it to lose orbit when it's on the other side of the sun. Then it will crash into the sun, and we'll get an even cooler show than a rocket-cause solar flare. :)

good call... lets do it :) It'd look really cool (before the solar flare came up and engulfed the earth :))

No no, it's on the other side of the sun. We're perfectly safe.

But what if we revolve into it... or the sun flares up and engulfs all of the terrestrial planets? I'm pulling lots of what if's... :o

I believe Orcas may cause some of the strandings. I read that some of the stranded animals have bite marks on them. And when the animals is brought back to sea, the Orcas are waiting for them. They probably choose to die by suffocating on land than to be eaten alive by Orcas.

P.S. About stealing mass from Mars. That is silly. We should steal one of its moons instead. They are smaller and will eventually crash into Mars anyway. And also, it doesn't need them, it has no water, so we will put them to good use.

That's an interesting idea, Leviathan. I'd probably commit suicide than be eaten alive by something. (No... I'm NOT suicidal... but if I was going to die anyway, I'd rather not die while I'm watching something eat my former leg) I bet thats the cause of some strandings. I think that each stranding has slightly different causes anyway... cetaceans are complex creatures... they don't all do the same things for the same reasons.

p.s. good call... the moons, of course... but I think Mars probably does have water...
