I live in Florida, but down in the keys. I would say the best schools for marine biology are Florida institute of technology (In Melbourne), University of Miami, Florida Gulf Coast University, and of course, University of Florida. It really depends what & how you would like your college atmosphere to be like. But, all those schools I have listed are excellent. You should check out their website, just google it and it should come up.
Or you an look on the forum David posted above ^ ^

I'm actually going to Florida Institute of Technology and pursuing my degree in marine biology. Personally, I love it there, and haven't ever considered going to another school. But it's like they say, you need to do your research on the schools.

College Board http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/adv_typeofschool.jsp is a good site for comparing different schools based on what you're looking for. And I recommend going on tour of the campus. I went to see Eckard College down in Florida, and I didn't like the atmosphere, (or the dorm rooms...) And if you can, talk to the students at the schools, they tell it like it is. Good and bad.

Good luck on your college quest. :humpback2:

jpd1130, did you visit University of Miami? That's where I want to go, and I've been kinda asking around to get a little more info on it.

Marinebio4445, I visited a few colleges in Texas (where I'm from), Coastal Carolina, Eckard, and FIT... But I didn't visit University of Miami. You definitely need to try to visit if you can, because different campuses have incredibly different feels to them. I visited one school, and I told my mom that I felt my IQ dropping... But good for you, asking questions and starting early!

Like I said, CollegeBoard is a good place to start. You could also try joining some Facebook groups for UofMiami, and asking kids there what they think of it. Good luck with your search!

I've heard poor things about UT, if you go to http://www.studentsreview.com and search for UT, you see a lot of negative interviews.

I know a guy who went through University of Tampa as a screenwriting major and he loved the school. A younger friend of mine is going to attend UT for marine bio. He had (has?) a 3.0 GPA and UT awarded him a fairly substantial scholarship, which is why I believe he accepted their invitation.
